![]() ![]() Although I have a couple of monosynths with CV inputs, so I do have the option to go down that road - it just means buying a $600 sequencer that’s a PITA to program - but i’ll look into this YARNS you mentioned. I don’t have many synths and none of them support micro tuning. Same thing in a real analog synth would be wonderful. There’s that really cool looking microtonal keyboard that I can’t remember the name of just now that has a few dozen notes per octave. I think it’s the future, so maybe some day. ![]() Hardcore microtonalists would want devices which allowed for smaller divisions of the octave-eg 19 or 23 tones per octave.Yeah I wish there were more options for making microtonal music more straight forward. Other microtonal synths in my collection would be the Rev3 Prophet-5, the DX-7II and the XP-60 (I pretty sure all of Roland's JV/XP synths are able to use alternate scales).Īll of these, however, are limited to 12-notes per octave. Not only does it support microtuning of itself, it will output the altered CVs via its own pitch CV output meaning I can play other CV synths microtonally using the same scale. I use YARNS to generate microtonal CVs from MIDI notes. Modulation options such as vibrato, expression control, and other tonal controls will always make or break a trumpet library. If that's the case then yes, you should be able to generate microtonal sequences with it. There is also Embertone Trumpet which I think goes better with an orchestra type setting. Beyond the modulation controls, there is not any possibility to swap out different MICing or anything exotic to get away from the default tone (so you either like the way it sounds or you don't). Sample Modeling - The trumpet is pretty good if I remember correctly ( company link). If you want to venture further into the middle east, the GIGA format library "Silk Road", and the AKAI disc "Voices of Istanbul" are underrated gems from the 90s.Īs far as solo Trumpet Kontakt libraries that don't sound like shit, that's always difficult. But you might still find something useful there, like a cool loop to manipulate. The AKAI libraries are of course quite out of date and are unlikely to yield much of a modular instrument experience. Some of the aformentioned are AKAI libraries, but you can use the program CDXTRACT ($) to convert between pretty much any sampler library format (halion, nnxt, giga, kontakt, akai, etc). ![]() ![]() Best Service Ethno World (I'm sure it has some accordions), Best Service World Colours, East West Global Sounds, Sonic Reality World Traveler are probably in the ballpark as well. Can't really tell you much about the quality, but check them out it might be what you are looking for. There is a company called Strezov Sampling that puts out Balkans-themed instrument libraries for Kontakt. ![]()
